Should I get married to a girl not willing to cover her face after Nikah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I AM LOOKING FOR MARRIAGE AND I DEMAND THAT THE GIRL SHOULD COVER HER FACE AFTER THE NIKAH & WEDDING CEREMONYS.ITS BEEN OVER ONE YEAR NO GIRL IS WILLING FOR THAT ,THEY ARE READY TO WEAR THE HIJAB BUT WONT COVER THE FACE.BUT MOST OF OUR ULEMA SUGGESTED ME THAT, AS OUR SOCIETY IS NOT MUCH FAMILIAR WITH COVERING THE FACE.SO ITS DIFFICULT CONVINCE TO COVER THE FACE AFTER MARRIAGE,AND I SHOULD DEMAND IT BEFORE THE MARRIAGE .SOME OF OUR RELATIVES SAYS GIRL SHALL BE READY AFTER MARRYING BECAUSE ITS COMPULSORY UPON WOMEN TO OBEY HER HUSBAND .

IS IT COMPULSORY ON WOMEN TO OBEY HER HUSBAND?

AS I AM NOW 26 YRS OLD AND I GO FOR A CHANCE ,IF MY WIFE NOT COVER THE FACE AND BODY AS (ITS TO BE COVERED), WILL I NEED TO SHARE THE SINS ON THE OF JUDEGEMENT

SO PLEASE GUIDE ME.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We acknowledge that covering the face for a woman is important. It is waajib in this era of fitnah and immorality and it is a sign of the woman’s shame and modesty. However, in choosing a girl, you should also focus on the character and conduct of a girl which is most important.

It is not necessary that every girl in purdah has good character and conduct. Neither is it necessary that every girl not in purdah has bad conduct. Focus in identifying a girl with good conduct. If she wears hijab, then Alhamdulillah. If she does not wear the hijab, do not disregard her. Do consider her. After marriage, use wisdom and diplomacy in influencing her to wear the purdah, that will be your achievement.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
