a kafir once asked me that if our allah is so powerful then whey doesnt he stops a man from raping a 2 year old girl and punish him for the same??

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

Raping a two year old is indeed heinous. However, the issue is not only about raping a 2 year old. It includes every wrong, whether it is kufr, killing, theft, adultery, fornication, rape and all prohibited acts. We all wish to live in a peaceful world without any crime.

The question in reference could be generalised to include every crime. Is Allah not powerful enough to stop every crime? The answer to this is that Allah is most powerful. Allah has the power to stop the biggest crime, which is kufr and shirk. Consider the following verse of the Qur’an:

وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَآمَنَ مَنْ فِيْ الْأَرْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيْعًا

“And if your Lord willed, He would have guided all those on Earth in their entirety”

The answer to the question as to why Allah allowed kufr, shirk and other evils to occur lies in the following verse of the Qur’an:

لَا يُسْئَلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْئَلُوْن

“He (Allah) is not to be questioned for what He does, but they (the creation) are to be questioned for what they are doing”

We believe that Allah is Al-Hakeem (The One with Most Wisdom). Every action of Allah has wisdom in it. We may not be able to fathom the depth of the wisdom with our limited minds.

However, according to our limited understanding, we are in this world to be tested for our Imaan. Our temptations are part of the test. It is our choice that determines our destiny. If there were no negatives, adopting a positive would not be a choice and not the result of a test. There had to be a negative for us to choose a positive and earn the pleasure of closeness to Allah Ta’ala. Examining the presence of evil from this angle is actually a mercy in disguise for true believers.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
