I fear Allah and I don’t want to do something that can lead me astray

Before moving to USA I had visa issues.I went to a pious lady recommended by my friend in Lahore.People from good background go to her for problems.First meeting, she closed her eyes and told that there is a problem in my paperwork. My husband fixed and I got visa in 6months.She usually sits on a Friday till late night for people. She can tell if something can provide benefit or not so we usually ask her on phone now sometimes. She does calligraphy and her work is displayed outside in her home so people buy it.But I have some doubts. From whichever home I call her I get a feeling that problems occur in that home sometimes my husband gets sick sometimes me.I don’t know if I should keep in touch with her.I know she prays and tells us to read bismillah and durood when we have probs.I once saw in my dream that she utilizes a jinn who can tell her things, only Allah knows how true is that dream.I am an educated lady and I have done my research about this.I need serious advice from an imam.I fear Allah and I don’t want to do something that can lead me astray. This is my first question. Please do reply me.I have been looking for guidance.May Allah bless you in the hereafter and in this world.Ameen.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Whenever a Mu’min (Believer) is faced with any difficulty he should first turn his focus and attention towards Allah Ta’āla. This does not by any means rule out the use of resources which are at our disposal in acquiring what we need.

You state that every time you contact her, you or your husband feel sick. Sickness is from Allah. Whilst we do not negate the mischief and evil of magic and Jinns, it would be inappropriate to attribute this to the Lady in reference. One should entertain good thoughts about a believer, though being alert of their mischief. Dreams are also not reliable sources for us to rely on or gauge/judge someone on what we have seen. It would be extremely deterring to follow everything one hears or sees in a dream.

It should also be remembered that when NO ONE can exactly tell with certainty of a particular thing giving benefit or harm. One could tell from personal experience. The knowledge of the unseen is only specific to Almighty Allah.

If you are uncomfortable with the lady in reference, you may cease contact with her.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
