Mother in law watches dramas!

We don’t watch television in our house. My mother in law watches dramas and lets the commercials play on her tablet and it bothers me quite a bit.  It really bothers me that music is being played in my house and I don’t understand how people have become used to the idea that its ok to sit and watch people who are not married or related, and watch them be intimate and interact in your own house.  Sometimes she has such a strong need to watch that she brings it while we are eating.  Does this mean that there are no chances of angels or barakah to come in the house?  How do I handle this situation as my husband says she has nothing else to do as she sufferes from a severe form of depression. In addition, the house she used to stay at overseas, a portion is rented to a person that removes jinns.  Since she has come, the doors close by themselves, I can hear walking in the house, my daughter has been complaining of dreams and doesn’t want to sleep in her bed.  I read the duas of protection, what else can I do to protect the house?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We understand and appreciate your sensitivity regarding television, music and dramas. We also understand your husband’s predicament. To deal with any depression patient is indeed challenging. In this case it is also a mother. We advise you to do whatever is within your means and tolerate her. Your house will not be deprived of the angels mercy in those places where there is no music and no television being played.

We advise you recite the 4 quls and Ayatul qursi every night and also recite the manzil. You may refer to the following link regarding manzil.
