Could you please advise us, what we could do to fall pregnant once again from an Islamic perspective? Is there any further guidelines in the Quran?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

my Wife and I have been married for just over 3 years now. We are really desperate to have children Insha-allaah. After approximately 1 1/2 years, we found out the my wife was pregnant. However, after a few weeks the baby passed away and miscarriage took place through Almighty Allaahs will. We have since being trying for another baby but nothing. Recently, the Doctor diagnosed my wife with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). We are really affected by this. She sometimes gets really depressed and so do I. Although we are happy with Almighty Allah’s will, sometimes it becomes hard when you hear of someone else’s pregnancy knowing that they got married after you.

I was just wondering, what could be read for specifically for PCOS. I know of all the pregnancy Dua’s but besides these, could you please advise us, what could we do to fall pregnant once again from an Islamic perspective. Is there any further guidelines in the Quraan. the Beloved Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaawhu aliahi Wasallam), the Sahaabah (Radiallaawhu Anhum) or our Pious Predecessors? Are there any Aamaal that could be done? Should we see a Hakeem?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected brother in Islam,

We make dua to Allah Ta’ala to keep you strong and guide you. Aameen.

We understand that a miscarriage for a woman brings about physical complications and is emotionally painful. However, no pain is in vain. A woman is greatly rewarded for every pain, physically and emotionally that she experiences during a miscarriage.

Consider the following Hadith:

عن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : والذي نفسي بيده إن السقط ليجر أمه بسرره إلى الجنة إذا احتسبته

Rasulullah (sallAllah ‘alayhi wa sallam) has said, “By the One in Whose hands is my soul, the miscarried fetus will drag his mother to paradise by his [umbilical] cord if she was patient [with the miscarriage], hoping to be rewarded.”[1]

You may recite the following duas so that Allah Ta’ala may grant you children.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِيْ مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً اِنَّكَ سَمِيْعُ الدُّعَاءِ

Translation: O my Rabb, grant me pure (pious) children from (pious) children from Yourself (by Your grace). Without doubt You hear all prayers (and accept them). [3:38]

رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ

Translation: O my Rabb, do not leave me childless when You are the Best of Successors. [21:89]

Furthermore, continuously offer salaatul-haajah. Kindly refer to the following link for more details on the method of saalatul-haajah.
