Is it necessary for a  wakeel (agent) to make intention on behalf of the mu`akil (client)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by AnswersToFatawa

Is it necessary for a  wakeel (agent) to make intention on behalf of the mu`akil (client) while slaughtering the qurbani animal?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is not a requirement for the wakeel (agent) to mention the name or make intention on behalf of the mu`akil (client) while slaughtering the animal. However, it is preferred the wakeel (agent) makes the intention of slaughtering the animal for the mu`akil (client)[1].

And Allah Ta`ala knows best
