Dealings With Husband’s Uncle

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) My husband’s uncle (khaloo) stays alone in Jeddah while his family is in India. Every week, upon his insistence, I cook and send food for him. Also sometimes he asks for altering his clothes, reducing ready mades and things like that. Is it halal (mubaah) for me to do so, as he is not a mahram for me, as this may lead to some non correct niyyat for him.

A.) Your husband’s uncle is a Ghayr Mahram to you.

It is compulsory for you to observe Hijaab from him. However, you may render any form of assistance to him if there is no fear of any immorality on either side.
