Changing Religion for Refugee Status

Q.) Dear brother please give me the Shariah position on change of religion for refugee papers. I am from France and one man living with me is facing this situation. Please you tell me in the light of Islam what is position of that man because he goes to church and admitted that he entered in Christian religion just because of refugee papers. [ISLAMIC brother AZHER]

A.) It is haram (strictly prohibited) for a Muslim to go to Church and admit being a Christian for refugee status.

That is a major sin. The person should make Tawbah and as a matter of precaution, recite his Kalimah again. And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
