Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Allah the Almighty states in the Holy Qur’ān:

“The sovereignty of the Heavens and the Earth belong solely to Allah. He creates what He wills and He grants female offspring to whom He wishes and He grants male offspring to whom He wishes.

Or He bestows upon some both male and female and makes barren who He wishes. Verily He (Allah) is All-knowing, Almighty.” (Qur’ān 42:49)

Everything is in the power of Almighty Allah.  Nothing is difficult for Allah Taālā.  Allah blessed Sayyiduna Zakariyya alahis salām with a son when he had reached the age of 120 years, whilst his wife was 98 years old. [i]  Never be despondent.  Think positively and keep trying.  You may make the following supplications:

“Rabbi la tatharnee fardan waanta khayru alwaritheen.”

(Sayyiduna Zakariyya alaihis salām said) “Oh my Lord, do not leave me alone (childless); when you are the best of inheritors.”  (Qur’ān 21:89)

(3:38)

“Rabbi hab lee min ladunka thurriyyatan tayyibatan innaka same’ad du’ā.”

(Sayyiduna Zakariyya alaihis salām said) “Oh my Lord, grant me from your bounty pious children, Verily you are the Listener of all prayers.” (Qur’ān 3:38)

“Rabbi hablee minas saliheen.”

(Sayyiduna Ibrāhīm alaihis salām said) “Oh my Lord, grant me a righteous child” (Qur’ān 37:100)

“Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wathurriyyatina qurrata a’yunin waj’alna lil muttaqeena imama.”

“Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” (Qur’ān 25:74)
