Is it permissible to eat monkey meat?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله رب العالمين و صلى الله على سيدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه و سلم أما بعد

 

The famous animal that is called a “monkey” (nasnas) is a type of ape, and it is thus unlawful to eat it (Hashiyat al-Sharqawi, 2.462).

السؤال السابع: هل يجوز أكل لحم النسناس ؟ الجواب :الحيوانُ المعروفُ المسمى بالنسناس هو نوعٌ من القِرَدة فيحرم أكله كما في “حاشية الشرقاوي” (2/462) .
