What is the ruling of a prayer behind a person who reads from a mushaf (copy of the Qur’an)?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Praying behind an imam who is reading the fatiha or something else from a mushaf is valid in our school. Reading from a mushaf in the prayer does no harm, whether the person has memorizing the Qur’an [they are reciting] or not, as Imam al-Nawawi stated in the Majmu`, where he said, “And this is the school of Malik and Abu Yusuf and Muhammad and Ahmad, ” meaning, in contradiction to Imam Abu Hanifa, may Allah have mercy on him.
