The farewell and going-forth tawaf

زIt seems that this would not suffice in our school. This is because the imams have said that the farewell circumambulation can only be performed after completing all the Hajj rites.

However, the Hanbalis explicitly state that such a circumambulation would count as the farewell circumambulation and there is ease in their position. Al-Mardawi, one of their late scholars,said in the Insaf, (4/51-52) “And he who delays his going-forth circumambulation and does it when he is leaving [Mecca], it suffices in place of the farewell circumambulation.” This is the position of the school and this is what the early scholars say. Al-Kharqi said this in Sharh al Mukhtasar and so did the author of the Mughni in the chapter of the prayer. […]

الجواب: الظاهرُ من مذهبنا عدمُ إجزاء ذلك؛ لأنهم صرَّحوا بأنه لا يعتدُّ بطواف الوداع ولا يسمى به إلا بعد فراغ جميع النسك. لكن صرَّح الحنابلة بإجزاء ذلك وفيه فسحةٌ، قال المرداوي من متأخريهم في “الإنصاف” (4/51-52) :” قوله (ومَن أخَّر طوافَ الزيارة فطافه عند الخروج أجزأ عن طواف الوداع) هذا المذهبُ وعليه الأصحابُ وقاله الخرقي في “شرح المختصر” وصاحب “المغني” في كتاب الصلاة قاله في “القواعد”، وعنه: لا يجزيه عنه فيطوف له، وأطلقهما في “المغني” “. اهـ
