When is it permissible to have multiple intentions for one prayer?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

It is permissible to join [s. meaning to have multiple intentions for one prayer] a supererogatory prayer that has a reason, such as prayer of greeting the mosque or the istikhara prayer, or the prayer of need with an obligatory prayer or another supererogatory prayer.

However, it is not permissible to join two obligatory prayers together, nor is it permissible to join an obligatory prayer with a supererogatory prayer that has a specific time, or the sunnas of an obligatory prayer, such as joining the fard prayer of dhuhr and the prayer of duha.

It is also not permissible to join two supererogatory prayers that have a specific time such as the prayer of duha and the sunna prayers [s. before or after] the obligatory dhuhr prayer.
