Enzymes, Mono & Diglycerides and Pigs

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ZamzamAcademy.com

Recently, I came across some information regarding enzymes, mono, and diglycerides in all kinds of food. I also realized that most of these ingredients come from animals including pig – but it does not always say so. I am really worried because whatever I see at the grocery store, even bread and cheese – have these ingredients. I tried calling some of the companies, but they could not tell me for sure what had pork and what did not. What should I do?

This is a difficult one. What some people do is to investigate some companies and then stick to them. There are also some websites that do this research for you, and it is good to be on their lists. One of them is www.eathalal.com. I am not certain but you may search for some.

And Allah knows best.
