Hamd, Naat, and Mankabat

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question: Is it OK to listen qawalli which is HAM’D NAAT MANKABAT Etc

Answer: The listening/playing of musical instruments such as the accordion is haram. So if the hamd, naat manqabat is with musical instruments it is NOT permissible to listen to it.

It is stated in shaami on page 349 volume 6 that

“Listening to musical instruments like the beating of drums etc is haram,”

He Sallalahu Alaihi WaSallam also said

(Bukhari)

“There will be from amongst my ummah such people who will make halal, adultery, the wearing of silk (for men), Alcohol, and musical instruments.

In fact, using musical instruments with Hamd, Na’at etc is worse, because of bey-adbi (disrespect) to Allah’s name. Just like using musical instruments with Quranic recital.
