Working in the food industry. Lobster, crab and shrimp

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

  1. Is it permissible to work in the food industry if haraam ingredients are used?
  2. Is lobster/crab permissible since shrimp is also not considered fish? And how about calamari (squid)?

  1. What do you mean by food industry?  Be specific.  The general rule for supermarkets is that if most is halal, then working is permitted.
  2. Shrimps are makrooh; lobster, crab and squid are haram according to the Hanafi mazhab.
