What is the difference between the ihram of a man and a woman?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question:

What is the difference between the ihram of a man and a woman?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

The ihram of a woman is the same as that of a man except for a few differences.

  • She will not wear the two cloths, rather she should cover her body including the head as usual. (Raddul muhtar P481 V2)
  • She should cover her face from strangers (non mahram men) by hanging a cloth which does not touch the face. (Raddul muhtar P488 V2)
  • She should not recite the talbiyah in a loud voice. (Raddul muhtar P 491)
  • She will not perform Ramal in Tawaf nor will she run between the meelain al akhdharain in sa’ee. (Al Bahrul-Raiq P381 V2)
  • She will not shave her head. (Al Bahrul-Raiq P381 V2)
