Is Prayer Excused on a Person Who is Unconscious?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Does someone who has been unconscious two months has to make up all the missed prayers during that time?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

No, he does not have to make up those prayers. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

A person who is unconscious does not have to make up their prayers if they exceed six. One of the conditions for the obligation of the prayer is soundness of mind (`aql).

And Allah alone gives success.
