Wiping the Head in Ablution (Wudu)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: Is it okay if the fingers of one hand touch the other while getting water to wipe the head in wudu? Is it okay if water from one hand drips over the other by accident? What if my hand touched a different object after getting the water to wipe the head?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are well, insha’Allah.

Yes, there is no harm in one hand touching the other, or in water dripping from one to the other. As long as one wipes at least one quarter of one’s head with water, one’s wiping is valid. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

The same would apply to touching another object (prior to wiping), except if the water dried from one’s hands. If so, one would wash one’s hands again before wiping.

And Allah alone gives success.
