At What Age Should Pubic Hair Be Removed?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Salam,

At what age should the pubic hair be removed? What if a child’s pubic hair grow very early in his life?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

Legal rulings apply specifically to adults, namely somebody who has reached puberty.

However, children are to be trained to carry out their religious duties from before this age.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Command your children to pray at age seven, and discipline them regarding it at age ten.” [Abu Dawud]

Thus, each parent should have their child learn such rulings so they understand how to carry them out when needed.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
