Is it Obligatory to Rememorize the Amount of Qur’an One has Forgotten?

Question: Assalamu alaykum

If one has memorized a portion of Qur’an and has forgotten it does it become oligatory (fard) to relearn it? And if yes should this take precedence over other forms of worship such as reading the Qur’an?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

Take the means to memorize again what you’ve forgotten.

As for this taking priority over that, it is not an either or. Rather, maintain both, as best you can, even if it means reciting one or two pages a day and finishing the Qur’an yearly.
