Using Zamzam for Wudu During Hajj

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Can Zamzam water be used for doing wudhu while on hajj? i.e in the haram sharief itself where the source of water is present- what are the rulings regarding this?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Yes, Zamzam can be used for wudu and ghusl, though it is best that this be done in a state of ritual purity, as this is closest to respecting this blessed water. It is improper to remove filth with it. [See: Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar; Tahtawi, Hashiyat al-Maraqi]

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
