Is there anything wrong with taking baths on Tuesdays?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yusuf Mangera

My mom does not allow us to take shower/baths on Tuesdays. She says it is better not to take a shower on those days. Is this based of religion, superstition or something else?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum

In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of truth

There is no problem with having a bath or shower on Tuesdays. I have not seen any prohibition or dislike of this in the Shari’a texts that I have read, nor have the scholars whom I consulted. Allah knows best the source of such a belief.

Faraz notes: One possible basis for the practice could be that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) died on a Tuesday. However, as Shaykh Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf notes, this does not establish that it is even disliked to take a bath or ghusl on this day; rather, such a belief would be a baseless innovation. And Allah knows best.
