Female Discharge: A Fiqh Question

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Vaginal discharge… do you have to remake your wudu? i.e. the whitish fluid from secretions of glands not post menses i.e. mad … something.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

If there is discharge from the vagina, “normal female vaginal discharge” (called rutubat al-farj, lit. “vaginal moisture” by the fuqaha), and it is not discoloured, it is tahir and does not require wudu if it comes out. [This is understood from Ibn Abidin’s Hashiya, and confirmed by major scholars of Damascus, as well as Imam Ashraf Ali al-Tahanawi]

However, if one does wudu in order to avoid something differed upon by the scholars, this is meritorious (especially if it is not difficult, such as when one is at home).

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,
Faraz.
