Sunnas before the khutba on Friday…

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

D uring the Juma prayer, what am I supposed to pray before the khutba? How about after the congregation prayer? Also, the initial prayer (before the Jammat) must be done after the Adhan yet before the khutba? If this is the case then our masjid does not give any time to pray after the Juma Adhaan, as soon as the Adhan is given then the Friday khutba begins. Please clarify these three issues.

Wa ‘Alaykum al-Salam

It is a confirmed sunna to pray four rakats before the Friday prayer and four rakats after it.  The time for the sunna prayers is after the time for the Dhuhr prayer enters.  So as long as you have some time between the entry of the time for Dhuhr and the Imam’s making his way towards the pulpit for the khutba then you have time to pray these four sunnas.  If one misses them then one can make them up after the group prayer.

And Allah knows best.
