Blood & Pus: Flow…

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have a quick Question. In the reply to ‘bleeding gums’ the impression was given that blood which is carried away [by saliva] but did not flow away does not break wudu. Is this the case for blood/pus from cuts which is not enough to flow from the cut, but can be wiped away. Does wiping away the blood/pus break the wudu?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

1. If blood or pus is such that if left alone it would not have flowed (within that session), it does not break wudu.

2. If it would have flowed if left unwiped, it does break wudu. [Ibn Abidin.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani.
