Fasting when pregnant

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

I’ve read the answer related to fasting for pregnant women, but am still unsure of a particular situation. I wonder, if one’s doctor (non-muslim) tells them that they do not carry a lot of body fat and may risk their baby’s health if they fast, should one still try to fast Ramadan? And if they do fast, how would one know if they are harming their baby since everyone feels thirst and hunger during a fast? The doctor was concerned with hypoglycemia in the event of fasting and was also concerned with a regurgitation problem caused by acid reflux. I don’t know that these are serious concerns or not, but I do know that the doctor had a very strong opinion regarding this woman not fasting.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

It would be best, if there are reasonable grounds for medical concern, to discuss your specific situation with a religiously-knowledgeable Muslim doctor.

Jazakum Allah khayr.
And Allah alone gives success.
