Was the flood of Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) time a world event, or was it localized to his people and area?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

There is difference of opinion among the scholars whether the Flood was general or specific to a particular area. There is no decisive text either way.

The most important point of the Flood is to realize the lessons Allah is teaching us through it: while material might, strength, and honor may seem of consequence, the reality is that it is very weak before the Power and Majesty of Allah; and that true might, strength, and honor are in strength of faith and deep piety.

Allah Most High tells us in the Qur’an

012.111 In their history verily there is a lesson for people of understanding. It is no invented story but a confirmation of what preceded it, and a detailed explanation of everything, and a guidance and a mercy for folk who believe.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
