RE: Recitation in prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

1. In four rakat prayers, do you have to recite a sura after sura fatiha or not? I have heard mixed opinions about it.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

In non-obligatory prayers, it is wajib to recite after the Fatiha. In obligatory prayers, it is a sunna. See attached answer(s).

Q2. Why after first two rakat of loud recitation, the imam does the last two silently?

This is how the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) prayed. The basis of our worship is the guidance of the Guiding Light of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani

The Obligatory Prayer: Not reciting the Fatiha in the final two rakats
Prayer: Followers Do Not Recite Behind The Imam, in any prayer
