Sleeping through Fajr

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Assalamu Alaikum

If one wakes up for fajr but goes back to sleep to try and get another 10/15 mins sleep and thinks that perhaps he will wake back up in that time because of his wanting it in his mind. But actually does not wake back up in time for Fajr.

Is this a valid reasen in Shariah for missing Salah or not?

JazakAllah

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

It would be sinful to sleep after the time has entered if there is any reasonable fear that one could miss praying on time.

And Allah alone gives success.
