I wanted to know that offering 2 Sunnah in Fajr, 4 before and 2 after Fard of Zuhr, 2 after Fard of Maghrib and 2 after Fard of Isha are compulsory? as far as I knew if we don’t say them Salat is not completed. But now my friend tells me that if I don’t say it its okay. But if I say it has high regard… what does Ahadith and The Quran has to say about this?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Wa Alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

From a previous question answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani:

The Confirmed Sunna (sunna mu’akkada) is that which our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) or the Companions did most of the time (and was not of worldly habits)

One who leaves it without excuse deserves reproach, not punishment. Leaving it habitually is sinful, though, because it entails ‘turning away’ from the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), whom we have been commanded to follow.
