No interest in politics?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have read some of your articles in which you have basically said that we as Muslims should take no interest in politics and not act against any Muslim government.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I have never said anything to this effect. A Muslim is someone who stands up for justice, and is concerned about their community, society, nation, and the good of Muslims and humanity. However, one does so in the right way, not through blind belligerence that does more harm than good.

>I would like to know what you feel we should do to help the muslims who are being slaughtered and killed everyday by unjust regimes in the Muslim world?

By promoting and encouraging more just regimes that are not despotic or unrepresentative of the will and aspirations of the masses in Muslim lands, but in a way that promotes the good and does not lead to further harm and injustice, as poorly thought-out political anger concerned with ends rather than sound means and noble goals is wont to do.

Wassalam.

Faraz Rabbani
