Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem Al Jawaab Billahit-Tawfeeq
Respected Brother/Sister,
Abd al-Hayy al-Hasani writes: It is well known that in the four schools, Mazaamir (wind instruments), Awtaar (stringed instruments) and Kubah (drum) are prohibited. So playing them or listening to them is Haraam according to them.
This covers almost all musical instruments, since based on the method of producing sound musical instruments fall in three categories: wind instruments, stringed instruments and percussion instruments (like the drum). (Slippery Stone, pg. 227)
Therefore, if the Nasheed is free from any of the instruments mentioned above, it will be permissible.
One who is interested in the Shari’ah ruling with regards to music in Islam is highly recommended to read the book entitled: Slippery Stone, an inquiry into Islam’s stance on music, authored by Khalid Baig.
And Allah knows best.
Wassalam.
