Making a mistake in the khutba

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. Can a muqtadi give luqma in the juma khutba if the imam makes a mistake while reading the khutba?

2. Is it necessary/allowed to translate the khutba in one’s own language?

Bismillaah

A:

1. The imaam should move on to some other verse etc. There is no need to correct the Imaam.

2. Not at the time that the khutbah is delivered, but at some other time, perhaps when the namaaz is over.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
