When should a woman ask for khula’?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: On what grounds can a woman ask for divorce or khula from her husband? Is it good for a woman to be in marriage if she loves someone else and feels that she is betraying herself and her husband and the marriage is not working because the husband never takes any initiative to make efforts to make the marriage work? Is she is forced to be with someone she doen’t love and there is no growth in life and she is not happy as the marriage was forced by parents.

Bismillaah

A: Despite her trying to make things work if she feels that it is not going to work she should discuss the matter with her elders and if all are in agreement then she should request a khula.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
