Watching Movies with Religious References: Is it Kufr for Muslims?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it kufr if I put on a movie where the actor says “Jesus” or “Oh my God”? Because their is a verse in the Quran where Allah says “and if you hear the signs of Allah being mocked at, then do not sit with them or you will be like them” will it be kufr if I put it on and allow other Muslims to watch it?

Bismillaah

A: It is totally haraam for one to watch these things or to become the means for others watching this. These are the tools of shaitaan (television, photography, etc) which have the potential to corrode one’s beliefs and actions and mislead one from the straight path. Hence immediately refrain from these things and sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
