Sharing condolences with the bereaved

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A close family member of a person passes away. What is the sunnah way/adaab of consoling the person?

Bismillaah

A: The Sunnah method of sharing condolences with the bereaved is to make dua for them and the deceased. You may sympathize with them by saying: May Allah Ta’ala assist you and bless you with sabr (patience) and forgive the marhoom (deceased) and bless him with the highest stages in Jannah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
