Discharging zakaat for someone from one’s personal wealth

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Zaid (imam of his community) generally receives zakaat in Ramadaan from his community members to distribute to the poor. 1) Can Zaid use his personal funds before Ramadaan to assist with zakaat cases with the intention of repaying himself from the zakaat funds he will receive in ramadaan?

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible for Zaid to spend his personal wealth on the poor and needy with the intention of recovering the wealth through the zakaat funds he expects to receive in the future.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
