Washing the face and removing dirt from around the eyes in wudhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Upon getting up for fajr, after making wudhu there is dirt in and or around your eyes and after you blink your vision is slightly blurred, thereafter you perform salaah, does this nullify wudhu or salaah?

Bismillaah

A: If the dirt was in the eye and it did not prevent water touching all parts of the face, then the wudhu will be valid. Hence the Salaah performed with the wudhu also will be valid. However if the dirt around the eye prevented the water reaching those parts of the face which have to be washed in wudhu, then in this case the wudhu is not valid. After removing the dirt one should wash that part of the face and repeat the Salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
