Dealing with an Angry Mother: Teenage Advice

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My mother gets angry easily and I try to respect her however from a young age she has hit me even though I try my best not to irritate her, being in my teenage years it is difficult, could you please advise me on what to do in these situations.

Bismillaah

A: You should serve your mother to the best of your ability and fulfil her rights. If she instructs you to do something, you should obey her (provided it is conforming to the laws of Shari’ah). If she tells you something that you do not like, then you should remain silent.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
