Jannah’s Hoors: Unpacking Gender Bias and the Curse of Little Fights

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In jannah hoors are described as gifts for righteous men and a hadith of tirmidi says that if a woman hurt her husband then the hoors curse her and say he is with you temporarily. He is going to return to us.

1. I need to know why are hoors only for men. I am not saying women deserve something like this but at least what is this curse. I mean we are human. Little fights are common. Then why is this privilege only for men. Even men hurt women. Why is there no Hadith for that.

2. Why women are treated like baseless things. My Imaan becomes weak. Are we useless creations? Then why this partiality? Please explain in detail. I want to know. I am very stressed.

Bismillaah

A:

1. Whoever is eligible for the curse then he gets it. If a man deserves the curse then he is also cursed. Just that you have not come across the hadeeth of men being cursed, hence you have arrived to the wrong conclusions of yours.

2. This is all your misunderstanding. You do not have proper understanding of deen, hence you feel like this. Otherwise as far as the aakhirat and deeds are concerned both are identical.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
