Q: When performing wudhu, when should I make khilaal of my fingers? Also, if my beard is not yet long enough, do I still need to make khilaal of it? When do we make khilaal of the beard in wudhu?
A:
1. After washing the hands.
2. If the beard is small but it is thick (i.e. the skin beneath the beard is not visible), then one will wash the face and thereafter make khilaal of the beard. However if the beard is small and the skin beneath the beard is visible, then in this case, khilaal of the beard is not masnoon. Instead it is necessary to make the water reach the skin of the face when washing the face.
3. After washing the face.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
( وتخليل اللحية ) لغير المحرم بعد التثليث ويجعل ظهر كفه إلى عنقه
قال الشامي : قوله ( وتخليل اللحية ) هو تفريق شعرها من أسفل إلى فوق بحر وهو سنة عند أبي يوسف وأبو حنيفة ومحمد يفضلانه ورجح في المبسوط قول أبي يوسف كما في البرهان شرنبلالية وفي شرح المنية والأدلة ترجحه وهو الصحيح ا هـ قال في الحلية والظاهر أن هذا كله في الكثة أما الخفيفة فيجب إيصال الماء إلى ما تحتها ا هـ وجزم به الشرنبلالي في متنه قوله ( لغير المحرم ) أما المحرم فمكروه نهر قوله ( بعد التثليث ) أي تثليث غسل الوجه إمداد …
قال الشامي : قوله ( وتخليل الأصابع ) هو سنة مؤكدة اتفاقا … وفيه عن الظهيرية أن التخليل إنما يكون بعد التثليث لأنه سنة التثليث (رد المحتار 1/117)
