Forgetting to mention some faults in a commodity

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a car was sold a while back and at the time of the sale the seller forgets to mention few faults on the car. The buyer did have a chance to look at the car and did not complain till today. Is the seller in any way liable?

Bismillaah

A: We advise that you notify the person who purchased the car from you and you compensate him for the difference in the value. (i.e. on account of the faults whatever depreciation comes about in the value, you should compensate him for that amount.)

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
