Iddat of a lady who has a miscarriage

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I was given three talaqs through whattsapp whilst I was pregnant. I had miscarriage on the first day of the forth month (exactly 16th week), how long is my iddat? Also, if my menstruation period is different to my regular cycle, do I count it as nifas or menstruation?

Bismillaah

A:

1. If the limbs of the foetus were formed, then through the miscarriage your iddat has ended.

2. Regard it as nifaas.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
