Reciting durood-e-Ibrahim in the first qa’da

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have performed Zuhr Salaah. In the sitting after two rakaats I recited the tashahud, durood and the Dua. Then I remembered it is a four rakaat salaah and without making salaam stood up and continued and completed the Salaah. But I did not make sajda-e-sahw. Is my salaah valid?

Bismillaah

A: It is compulsory to stand up after the first tashahhud of a four rakaats fardh Salaah. Since by reading durood-e-Ibraahim and dua you delayed in fulfilling the waajib, hence sajda-e-sahw becomes compulsory. If one did not make the sajda-e-sahw, then the Salaah should be repeated as long as the time of the Salaah remains. Once the time elapses, one does not have to repeat the Salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
