Unknowingly uttering words of kufr

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I wanted to know what is the consequences of a Muslim who could have unknowingly left the fold of Islam. I uttered a sentence in the gym that said to an extent that there is other gods but I did not mean it in the context that it was said. I was alone in the gym when this happened. As soon as I mumbled those words and realised what I said, I immediately repented because I did not intend to say it, it just came out of my mouth. I’m extremely worried because what I have learned is that Allah doesn’t forgive those who leave the fold of Islam. Please advise me because I love Islam and love Allah and the prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam).

Bismillaah

A: Make taubah and recite the kalimah in abundance and avoid these types of places where your mind can be turned towards wrong thoughts and beliefs.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
