Receiving Scholarships Under a Non-Muslim Identity: Is it Permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I reverted to Islam one year ago yet I didn’t change my name in the certificate because I’m receiving scholarships with that old name. Is it permissible to receive that scholarship under a kuffar’s identity?

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible. However if you are able to change your name, then this will be better.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
