Taking a salary for making Imaamat or teaching in a madrasah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for an Aalim who is appointed as Imam in a musjid to receive salary for Imamat whereas the five times salaah is obligatory for
the imam also and also it is a duty of a muslim who keeps the knowledge of fiqh and recites quran properly to lead the salah only for the sake of Allah without a salary?

A: According to the Hanafi Mazhab it is permissible to accept a salary in lieu of rendering the fundamental actions of Deen. E.g. Taking a salary for making Imaamat in a Musjid or for teaching in a Madrasah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
