Going for umrah with one’s son

Q: My parents, myself and my 2 kids son 9 and daughter 10 were supposed to go for umrah. I have had many developments after booking. My dad is in hospital due to a weak heart condition. And I was given talaaq. Can I still go for umrah with my son as my mahram?

A: If your son is baaligh, he can be your mahram. However it is impermissible for a woman to travel while she is in iddat even if she is accompanied by a mahram.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
