Talking to one’s fiancé on the phone

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I’m a 23 year old woman living in the United States and my fiancé lives in the Middle East. I’ve been engaged for a little over a year now. I will be married Insha Allah in summer. My question is, is it halaal for me to talk to him on the phone knowing that both our parents agree and know about it?

A: Until you are not in nikaah it is not permissible for you to communicate with this person.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
